JURGEN KLOPP GIVES INJURY RETURN LATEST ON LIVERPOOL GOALKEEPER ALISSON BECKER

Alisson Becker is still at least two-and-a-half weeks away from a return to action after a hamstring injury, reveals Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds goalkeeper has been sidelined since the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on 4 February, with Caoimhin Kelleher stepping in and deputising impressively since.

The Irishman looks set to remain in goal for at least the next four games, with Alisson returning to fitness but not there yet.

In an unusual source of injury news, Klopp spoke to fans on a tour of Anfield on Wednesday and let them know how the Brazilian goalkeeper is getting on, while also confirming that Diogo Jota is working on a similar time frame as he recovers from a knee injury.

‘Ali about two-and-a-half or three weeks,’ said the Reds boss. ‘Close, it’s not that long anymore.

‘Diogo as well, but as long as they are not out here doing a little bit on the pitch, it takes at least two-and-a-half weeks.’

Liverpool have three Premier League games in eight days coming up, starting at home to Brighton on Sunday.

They then host Sheffield United on Thursday 4 April before going to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United the following Sunday, so Alisson will miss all three of those crucial contests.

Klopp’s men return to Europa League action against Atalanta at Anfield on 11 April, which also looks set to come too soon for the Brazilian, with a home match against Crystal Palace on 14 April a possible return date, but with nothing confirmed as yet.

Liverpool are still dealing with a string of other injuries, as Trent Alexander-Arnold remains out, while Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez and Andy Robertson have been struggling but hope to return against Brighton.
